Since I picked up my first camera as a kid, my enjoyment of photography has grown and grown. The summer I spent as a teenager, cycling around my neigbourhood, with my dad’s old camera in my rucksack will stay fresh in my mind forever. I spent all my (very limited!) money on film, and a friend had a dark room which he taught me how to use. I will never forget seeing my first print appear as I swilled the developer back and forth over it in the tray. Science and art combined to make magic. I was hooked!
Digital cameras have replaced my old rangefinder, memory cards the film, Photoshop the darkroom, but none of that magic has gone. I continue to see the world differently when I look at it through the viewfinder of a camera.
I currently live near Edinburgh, Scotland Sydney, Australia, a beautiful city which gives me much inspiration.
What’s with the name?
Dictionary.com defines mojo as being the art or practice of casting magic spells; magic; voodoo. Despite spending years learning the technical and scientific side of photography, the magic that allows a photograph to bring back a memory or feeling is what ultimately matters to me.
